For more than fifty years the MCG Foundation has been proud to serve as a link between the Medical College of Georgia and those in our community who desire to uphold the institution’s vital mission in education, research and patient care. This year, the Foundation provided over $164,000 in scholarship funding for over 30 students. Additionally, we made available over $600,000 in research funding and over $500,000 for patient care at the MCG Children's Medical Center and other MCG Health System programs. Since 1990, the MCG Foundation has provided over $75 million to support MCG's mission of education, research and patient care. Stewardship of the funds entrusted to the MCG Foundation is of paramount importance. We are pleased to announce that Fiscal Year 2006-07 saw significant growth in the Foundation's investment pool. Currently, total assets are over $145 million consisting of $119 million of permanent endowment which includes 41 endowed faculty chairs, a $17 million research endowment and numerous endowed scholarships and fellowships. We are extremely proud that the MCG Foundation has the third-largest endowment in total dollars of any University System of Georgia institution and is ranked 14th nationally for public university related foundations per student enrolled. At the heart of the MCG Foundation is a 46-member volunteer Board that oversees Foundation operations. While it is an honor to serve on the Board of Directors of the MCG Foundation, it is by no means an honorary Board – ours is very much a working board. Our Directors make a significant commitment and provide us with their time, talent and considerable expertise. The Foundation's small staff relies on the wisdom, guidance and experience of our Board members. We sincerely thank each of you who have invested in our goals over the years and assisted in our growth.
