Bella J. May Achievement Award

Fund #

4005

The Bella J. May Achievement Award was created to recognize the entry level student who shows the greatest potential of becoming a caring, competent, creative and contributing member of the profession. The award is to include a monetary award of no less than $500 and no more than $800, a plaque for the recipient, and the recipient's name is to be engraved on a permanent plaque located in the Department of PT. Once the funds have built to a reasonable level, a second award can be made to the graduating post professional student who has exhibited the same qualifications and potential and has, prior to entering the program, given evidence of professional competence, involvement and creativity. The award is to include a monetary award of no less than $500 and no more than $800, a plaque for the recipient, and the recipient's name is to be engraved on a permanent plaque located in the Department of PT. If there are enough funds to make the two awards and still have income left over, the rest is to be used to support professional activities to entry level or post professional students. Appropriate activities may include assistance with travel and costs associated with presenting at an APTA conference, participating in a National Student Conclave or similar activities that involve professional activities.
